After April 2017 Vista will no longer have support from Microsoft (in Microsoft jargon "extended support" ends) . The following is provided for existing users but may not be up to date for the latest versions of SuperView25 etc .
Microsoft's Vista was their main operating system for 2007-2009 but was replaced by Windows 7
It was their replacement for Windows XP and all previous versions and by mid 2008 was the only version Microsoft sold, although there were some ways of still getting Windows XP.
Vista was not a popular system. However there is little fundamentally wrong with Vista.
Like all new operating systems there were changes from previous versions that affect the programs that run under it. Please check detailed information. for different Versions of SuperView
Vista is available in a range of versions - not all features of our programs maybe available when running on all versions of Vista. We suggest Home Premium, Business or Ultimate
If you have any issues on your particular hardware please contact us.
There are a number of versions of Vista that include the Aero interface. The Aero interface has extra requirements relating to the graphics chip, needing a reasonable chip and graphics memory just to run!
SuperView21plus or later will run fine on well specified Vista - Aero based systems but plenty of graphics memory is useful.
It is now at least 7 years since Microsoft replaced Vista with Windows 7 which has itself been replaced!
Upgrading an existing setup-machine to Vista is not recommended since Vista's requirements will not enhance SuperView's performance or behaviour on an existing machine. However using SuperView21plus or later will not stop you upgrading if you wish.
SuperView21plus and SuperView21 Chromatic have been tested and run well on Vista. They have also been tweaked to use Vista's new features. Early versions of SuperView25 also ran on Vista plus check the information on the very latest versions.
The older SuperView21 (v5,0,x,x) (released well before Vista) has been tested on Vista and in general had no major issues, earlier versions (e.g. SuperView3) will not be tested or supported.
All versions of SuperView use OpenGL and early drivers (Q1-Q3 2007) from the graphics chip manufacturers (ATI, nVidia, Intel etc) were in general NOT good quality and therefore the performance of SuperView was not optimal until better drivers became available and were installed. In general these were speed issues but were not limited to them.
We have adjusted SuperView21plus and later to deal with various OpenGL issues, especially relating to Aero (but not exclusively). Earlier versions of SuperView21 do not contain these adjustments and therefore we can not offer support for graphics related issues with these old versions.
We do not support running SuperView versions that are older than the version of Windows they are running on.
