Windows 11 seems to be quite similar to Windows 10 even internally.
However Microsoft have insisted on a higher minimum specification for the hardware. So some quite reasonable Windows 10 setups will not be able to run Windows 11. Please see Microsoft's websites for details/
We and users have currently found SuperView25 7.3.x runs well on Windows 11 (please see later for Win 11S and running on ARM processors).
After October 2025 Windows 10 will no longer be supported by Microsoft
Microsoft's current operating system is now Windows 11. Virtually all new Windows machines come with a version of Windows 11.
This also uses the Desktop style interface rather than the Tiles of Windows 8/8.1. So users of Windows 10 and 7 should be able to quickly adapt.
However the family of products using the Windows 11 name like Windows 10 is quite large and although they "look" similar some are quite different "underneath" and their suitability for SuperView25 varies.
Windows 11 (like previous Windows) is available in various editions (eg Home, Professional etc). Although these do have different features they should be suitable for SuperView 25 (see later)
There are also products such as Windows 11 S (see below). and Windows 11 on ARM (see below). Please read the relevant sections as these may not be suitable.
From SuperView's perspective an important split is those setups of Windows able to run desktop programs versus those that can only run apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store. SuperView 25 is a desktop program and is not available through the Windows Store.
More recently there are products that run on hardware (ie CPUs) that are not Intel x86 compatible but ARM based. These do have a "compatibility" facility but there suitability for SuperView and other Windows 7 compatible software is not 100% - please read on.
Like Windows 10S this version can only install programs from the Windows Store and is therefore not suitable for SuperView25.
There is now only Windows 11 Home S and that can be unlocked to Windows 11 Home.
An unlocked system cant be relocked!
If you are keen to have a Store version of SuperView please let us know.
This is Windows 11 but running on a totally different processor and GPU. ARM processors include Qualcomms Snapdragon range of processors and Microsoft's SQ range. Microsoft claim this is "Windows 11" with all the features etc but the significantly different processor does make a difference to the programs that run on it.
Microsoft appear to have put a lot of effort into allowing many existing programs to run on this architecture. Even so there are still restrictions so we suggest caution with any software.
We have not been able to assess our software on Windows 11 running on this hardware (ARM) either in terms of whether it will run or if the performance is reasonable. From Microsoft's documentation there may be some issues especially relating to reflection effects in the graphics. We therefore strongly suggest avoiding this hardware until the situation is clarified.

Microsoft seem to be intending to do similar to Windows 10 and release regular updates to Windows 11, regarding Windows as a service.
Microsoft intend to keep these versions compatible with previous versions of Windows 11 whilst adding new features. However there are changes so somethings can "break". Also the hardware requirements could change so an "old" machine may not be able to run the latest version(s) of Windows 11
We anticipate having a version of SuperView suitable for each version as it is released but cant guarantee prior versions of SuperView on newer releases
It appears Microsoft will release new features when they want rather than roughly every 6 months as with Windows 10 but hopefully will restrict major or internal changes . Many computers automatically update to later versions. Older versions of SuperView may originally have worked on similarly aged versions of Windows 10 but we can not support them on newer versions. So it is possible that an update to Windows 11 will require an update to SuperView.
Due to the new hardware requirements of Windows 11 it is unlikely a machine running versions of Windows before Windows 10 will be able to be upgraded. For example a fairly new processor is required. All details are under Microsoft's control and so this information is a general guide only.
Microsoft announced a free upgrade for suitable systems and this covered a wide range of existing users but not all hardware . See Microsoft's web site for details.
It is possible to purchase Windows 11 as an upgrade but also some business volume licenses include the right to upgrade.
Please read the following BEFORE you upgrade a system that includes SuperView.
Please check with Microsoft's Web sites for their current hardware recommendations. Many older machines even running Windows 10 will not be suitable - so please check.
Check all peripheral devices, in some cases there may not be a suitable driver - check with the peripheral manufacturer's web site.
The same may be true of the main PC especially if it is a laptop or all-in-one
SuperView 25 Rplus 7.3.x is currently the supported version on Windows 11
Versions older than 7.3.x are not supported on Windows 11 please see the Windows 10 page for some more info. We have released 7.3.0.0 to ensure the best user experience on the newest versions of Windows 11 and 10. We do have a reasonable upgrade policy
We do not support running SuperView versions when they are older than the version of Windows they are running on (but see below).
Microsoft intend to keep future versions compatible with older versions of Windows 11 whilst adding new features.
Often Microsoft manage to avoid making breaking changes, and so older versions of SuperView 25 should be able to continue to run on new versions of Windows 11. However some of Microsoft's previous changes (to Windows 10) have broken or degraded parts of SuperView25. Of course new Windows 11 features will not necessarily be supported in "older" versions of SuperView25.
NB this does not mean new features will be included "free"
We do not retest each older version of SuperView on each new version of Windows 11. It is possible that some feature of SuperView that worked well on a previous version of Windows 11 will no longer work as well or perhaps at all. We will alter the current version of SuperView to suit but the older versions can not be adjusted. .
