After early Jan 20 Windows 7 was no longer supported by Microsoft (in Microsoft jargon "extended support" ended) . The following is provided for existing users but may not be up to date for the latest versions of SuperView25 etc .
Windows 7 has long been a popular and reliable version of Windows.
However Microsoft has withdrawn on going support in early 2020. This does not mean the OS will "suddenly" stop working but Microsoft's security and other patches will stop. This may cause security problems and support for new hardware (including printers) will reduce.
Windows 7 was the replacement for Vista and previous operating systems. In late 2012 Microsoft launched Windows 8.
Like all operating systems there are changes from previous versions that affect the programs that run under it.
Our current version of SuperView 25 works well on Windows 7 but Microsoft's withdrawal of support means that this maybe impacted by events outside M'n'G designs control.
See below for older versions of SuperView.
Windows 7 is available in a range of versions, including Starter, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate. Unlike Vista these are a straight forward progression so Starter has the fewest features, Home more, Business more yet and Ultimate the most. We can not guarantee all features of our programs will be available when running on every version of Windows 7 but the main program should work.
There are also 32bit and 64bit varieties of most of these versions. Most current software is 32bit and in theory can run on both varieties however drivers (eg to control printers) must match the OS. So a 64bit driver is required on Windows 7 64bit (these may not be available for older hardware)
Please check with Microsoft's Web sites for their hardware recommendations. The hardware requirements vary depending on the exact version.
If you have existing hardware (e.g. printers) that you intend to use with a different version of Windows please check that suitable drivers exist - this is especially true if you are looking at 64bit Windows 7.
Since Microsoft is withdrawing support and no longer sells Windows 7 upgrading to the OS is no longer recommended
Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 or 10 is possible, please check Microsoft's web sites for details and prices. SuperView25 runs very similarly on both systems so you can upgrade Windows 7 if you wish but there is no specific advantage from the point of view of running SuperView25. Please read our information on Windows 8 especially if you have a version prior to SuperView25. Similarly please read our information for Windows 10 especially if you do not have a recent version of SuperView25.
All versions of SuperView 25 work well on Windows 7 (64bit and 32 bit)
Later versions of SuperView21 Chromatic (5.2.0.24 or later) run well on Windows 7 (64bit and 32bit) - however a special Windows 7 CD was required.
SV21 CDs released prior to the launch of Windows 7 are not suitable - (ie those without "SuperView 21 (7)" on the label) - please contact us for details.
The older SuperView21plus (v5,1,x,x,) and SuperView21 (v5,0,x,x) (both released well before Windows 7) have not been tested on Windows 7. SuperView21plus did run on Vista and so in general no major issues are expected the earlier SuperView21 did not run consistently reliably on Vista. We will not support either of them or earlier versions (e.g. SuperView3) on Windows 7. This is in part due to ever developing graphics chips - not all newer chips are supported by these older versions.
We do not support running SuperView versions that are older than the version of Windows they are running on.
