After October 2025 Windows 10 will no longer be supported by Microsoft - Windows 11 is now considered their current version.
The following has not been revised to acknowledge that fact.
Microsoft's current operating system is Windows 10. Virtually all new Windows machines come with a version of Windows 10.
This reverts to the Desktop style interface rather than the Tiles of Windows 8/8.1. So users of Windows 7 should be able to quickly adapt.
However the family of products using the Windows 10 name has steadily grown and although they "look" similar some are quite different "underneath" and their suitability for SuperView25 varies.
NB There is no Windows 9
Windows 10 (like previous Windows) is available in various editions (eg Home, Professional etc). Although these do have different features they should be suitable for SuperView 25 (see later)
There are also products such as Windows 10 S (see below). and Windows 10 on ARM (see below). Please read the relevant sections as these may not be suitable.
The obsolete Windows 10 for phones (usually has mobile in the title) was not suitable for SuperView25 .
From SuperView's perspective an important split is those setups of Windows able to run desktop programs versus those that can only run apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store. SuperView 25 is a desktop program and is not available through the Windows Store.
More recently there are products that run on hardware (ie CPUs) that are not Intel x86 compatible but ARM based. These do have a "compatibility" facility but there suitability for SuperView and other Windows 7 compatible software is not 100% - please read on.
This version (new in June 2017) can only install programs from the Windows Store and is therefore not suitable for SuperView25. Initially Microsoft were not 100% clear but it has proved to be possible to unlock Windows S to the more normal version.which is suitable for SuperView 25.
Microsoft seem to be treating Windows 10 S more like a particular configuration (mode) that only allows Store Apps with an upgrade/unlock to "full" Windows 10. Please note: - an unlocked system cant be relocked!
If you are keen to have a Store version of SuperView please let us know.
This version was mentioned at the Surface Event in October 2019 in the USA. Windows 10X is intended to provide support for dual screen devices launched at the event. These devices will not be available "for a while".
It is not clear how Windows 10X differs from the other Windows 10s (other than this dual screen support) but it may well be more like ... running on ARM than the others and therefore the comments relating to that apply. So we strongly suggest caution at this stage

This is Windows 10 but running on a totally different processor and GPU. Microsoft claim this is "Windows 10" with all the features etc but the significantly different processor does make a difference to the programs that run on it.
Microsoft appear to have learnt from Windows 8 RT and has put a lot of effort into allowing many existing programs to run on this architecture. Even so there are still restrictions (eg no 64 bit programs) so we suggest caution with any software.
We have not been able to assess our software on Windows 10 running on this hardware (ARM) either in terms of whether it will run or if the performance is reasonable. From Microsoft's documentation there may be some issues especially relating to reflection effects in the graphics. We therefore strongly suggest avoiding this hardware until the situation is clarified.

Microsoft claim they do not intend to release a new version of Windows but rather to add to Windows 10, regarding Windows as a service.
There have now been numerous versions of Windows 10 including the "Anniversary Edition" (aka 1607), Spring 2018 update (1803) and many others.
Microsoft intend to keep these versions compatible with previous versions of Windows 10 whilst adding new features. However there are changes so somethings can "break". Also the hardware requirements can change so an "old" machine may not be able to run the latest version(s) of Windows 10.
We anticipate having a version of SuperView suitable for each version as it is released but cant guarantee prior versions of SuperView on newer releases of Windows 10.
Microsoft aim to release a new one roughly every 6 months. Many computers automatically update to later versions. Older versions of SuperView may originally have worked on similarly aged versions of Windows 10 but we can not support them on newer versions.
The following relates to Microsoft upgrades from previous versions of Windows eg Win7, not between versions of Windows 10. All details are under Microsoft's control and so this information is a general guide only.
Microsoft initially announced a free upgrade for qualifying systems and this covered a wide range of existing users however the time limit for this offer has now expired for general home/soho users, volume license may still have an option . See Microsoft's web site for details.
There was a time limited ability to revert to the previous version of Windows but this appears to be a fairly short period (30 days)
It is possible to purchase Windows 10 as an upgrade but also some business volume licenses include the right to upgrade.
Please read the following BEFORE you upgrade a system that includes SuperView.
Please check with Microsoft's Web sites for their current hardware recommendations. The hardware requirements vary depending on the exact version, most machines running Windows 7 or 8/8.1 should be OK but please check.
Changing from a 32bit to a 64bit version of Windows requires extra checking and we suggest you uninstall SuperView and especially the dongle driver first.
Check all peripheral devices, in some cases there may not be a suitable driver - check with the peripheral manufacturer's web site.
The same may be true of the main PC especially if it is a laptop or all-in-one
SuperView 7.3.x is the supported version on Windows 10
We check the current version of SuperView against each new version of Windows 10.
For example SuperView 25-Rplus (7.2.x.x.) was successfully tested against Windows 10 (Anniversary and Creators Update) whilst SuperView 25R (ver 7.1.x.x) was tested against Windows 10's original version (1507 and 1501) with no major issues. However there were a few occasional issues depending on the hardware.
Our latest version 7.3.x.x has been successfully checked on later releases including Windows 10-versions 1803, 1903 and 1909.
If you have a version between 7.1.0.0 but prior to 7.3.0.0 please contact us - we have released 7.3.0.0 to ensure the best user experience on the newest versions of Windows 10.
Users of SuperView25 prior to 7.1.0.0 should contact us to check details but they are not supported on current versions of Windows 10
Earlier versions of SuperView (eg SV21, SV3 etc) are not supported on Windows 10 nor were they on Windows 8/8.1
We do not support running SuperView versions when they are older than the version of Windows they are running on (but see below).
Microsoft intend to keep future versions compatible with older versions of Windows 10 whilst adding new features.
Often Microsoft manage to avoid making breaking changes, and so older versions of SuperView 25 should be able to continue to run on new versions of Windows 10. However some of Microsoft's changes have broken or degraded parts of SuperView25. Of course new Windows 10 features will not necessarily be supported in "older" versions of SuperView25.
SuperView 25-Rplus (ie Ver 7.2.0.0 and later) will therefore have this Windows 10 support whilst versions prior to that will not (that includes SuperView25 versions 7.0.x.x and 7.1.x.x). NB this does not mean new features will be included "free"
The 1803 aka Spring 2018 update for Windows 10 does include a "breaking change" that means some versions of SuperView 25 do not run.
We have a suitable version of SuperView25Rplus (7.3.x.x)
So for the smoothest transition contact us before updating but either way you will need to contact us.
This version of SuperView 25 works on Windows 11 but not on Windows 10 - we have an update version available (7.3.12/7.3.3.0)
We do not retest each older version of SuperView on each new version of Windows 10. It is possible that some feature of SuperView that worked well on a previous version of Windows 10 will no longer work as well or perhaps at all. We will alter the current version of SuperView to suit but the older versions can not be adjusted. So far there have been no issues that have created serious general problems (except Win10-1803) but individual users may have been affected.
