Most licenses for SuperView allow you to install on multiple machines. Installing on a new machine should be straight forward but please read these notes first.
The latest version SuperView 25 will work well on Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows 7 (please see the separate notes on each). Please read the individual notes for Windows 8,Vista and XP .
If you are using an older version of our program there are things to be aware of - see below.

Installing on to Windows 2000 or earlier (incl. Windows Me and 98) is not supported.
Upgrading a machine from Windows 98 or ME to Windows8, 7, XP or Vista is not recommended. If you wish to do this please call before starting.
If you have a Parallel port dongle nominally your new machine would need a parallel port
USB convertors do NOT work.
However we do not recommend parallel port dongles on new hardware and suggest you trade in for a new USB dongle - please see Dongles for more information.
Simply install the program using your SuperView installer (MSI) previously downloaded (copying files from the old machine is not sufficient).
The copy you kept from your last download is best as the download link may no longer be valid or may link to a version for which you do not have a relevant license. Each MSI file is complete so you only need the latest. (NB some optional utilities are supplied in separate downloads)
Then transfer the data from the old machine or backups.
You must install the Sentinel Driver. This is a separate step using the program group installed by the previous step.
Connect the dongle and run the program as before but on your new machine!
You will be prompted for any final setup details required
Please (re)register your license on the new machine
SuperView 21 was provided on CD (ie not a downloaded MSI file). Lost your CD? - contact us for an upgrade - we no longer stock old versions of the CDs
We have launched a Browser facility that makes transferring individual designs easier - the following is aimed at a one off bulk transfer.
The user data is in Customer and Data (and their sub-folders) off the 'main' folder, these contain individual 'design' data and any 'catalogue pricing' data respectively. The other sub-folders are version specific and should not be transferred.(if you have created a number of Schemes that you wish to keep please contact us). In general do NOT overwrite a file created by the installer.
SuperView 25 uses a 'main' SV-25 folder based on the Public Documents folder as Microsoft recommends this structure. The exact folder names vary depending on the Operating System - use the Program Setup utility to view the folders selected. Similar structures are used for older versions of SuperView etc. On an install of SuperView21 the main folder is Svx5 (some special versions have their own folder, SV3 uses SV2003 etc). However please contact M'n'G designs about the suitability of this data if its prior to SuperView21.
Various versions of Windows have an Easy Transfer utility; this does not automatically transfer the relevant data.
However the Advanced options may allow you to do a transfer of the data folders.
NB PLEASE do NOT connect two PC directly via a USB to USB unless it is a special Data Transfer cable otherwise you may damage the PCs.
In many cases this is because the combination simply will not work reliably even if it initially appears to do so! We are certainly not able to offer any free help ,either installing or running our software, in the specified circumstance.
Often these problems are caused by changes to the operating system or hardware that were simply not available when that version of our product was written. Although our software is written to minimise these sort of problems if is not possible to totally future proof a system.
