Installing and Setting Up
In general you should have no problems but if you do, simply contact us and we will help.
Here are a few FAQs that might help
Simply hover the mouse over or tap the relevant question
- Before installing ? You will need the SuperView25 installer (MSI file) that you downloaded from a link we provided and the dongle.
- Permission (Admin rights) The installation process needs "Admin Rights". You will be prompted when these are required but you need either to be a user with admin rights or get a user with admin rights to help. The exact mechanism for that help will vary depending on whether the machine is managed by an IT department or simply just another user
Run the installer - usually there are just a few simple steps which will include security questions and require admin rights. Depending on your setup there are a few details that may require attention
- Anti-Virus software If you have anti-virus software installed it maybe set to prevent installations. So it is best to temporarily suspend the anti-virus software however you can try without doing that. SuperView itself can be run with the anti-virus software running so please remember to ensure the anti-virus software is restarted once the install is complete
- "Cant install non-Store Apps" message Windows 10 allows a setting that blocks Desktop Apps like SuperView installing. If set this must be temporarily changed to allow non Store Apps. This feature is NOT normally on by default. Windows 10S effectively has this permanently on- so is not suitable for current versions of SuperView Please see Windows 10 for details
- Folder (ransomware) protection ? Windows 10 has a feature to try to minimise the impact of ransomware software. This feature is NOT normally on by default, if it is on and something tries to write to that folder a popup warning message usually appears. Whilst installing it is simplest to temporarily turn off the Folder Protection. SuperView is not normally automatically white listed so you will need to white list it after the install. Some anti-virus programs contain a similar feature
- Standard Install ? The instalation offers a series of options but the default option is, in nearly all circumstances, the best. The standard install option installs all the features on to the computer - the other options install less (in terms of disk space) but not signifanctly
- The Dongle? To run the program the supplied dongle must be connected to the system. Install the driver software first before connecting the dongle. The dongle is a vital part of the license and must be looked after.
- Installing on a different version of Windows Each version of SuperView will run on the main versions of Windows available at the time it (SuperView) was launched. So SV25Rplus 7.3.x.x will run on Windows 10 (1803) and earlier plus Windows 7 whilst SV25 7.2.x.x will run on Windows 10 (prior to 1803), 8.1 and 7, earlier SV25 (eg 7.1.x.x) was designed for Windows 8.1, 7, Vista and XP but SuperView21 was designed for Windows XP. Please see System Requirements for details.
- Can I install on multiple machines ? Systems supplied with a dongle can be installed on as many machines as you wish - it is the dongle that controls the license.
- Distorted 3D Pictures SuperView uses drivers that come with your hardware to help create the 3D pictures. Please see the separate section for any problems
Once installed there are a number of help files that include further information on some of the above points. These are easiest viewed from within the main program from the Help menu
SuperView versions older than 25 are no longer supported but most of the above applies and here are a few helpful notes
SuperView 21 CD related
- I have lost the SuperView CD SuperView21 was only available on CD. Do try and find it - it is important if you need to reinstall.
- The CD does not auto-start ! Most machines are set to autorun CDs but some are not. From Start->Run type in D:Setup (assuming your CD is drive D)
- Do I still need the CD once the software is installed ? All the important parts of the system are copied on to the computer. So you do not need the CD to run the system - but please keep it safe. Each release of the CD contains the complete system you do not need to keep earlier sub-versions.
