M'n'G designs full programs are supplied with a dongle. A driver is required to allow the software to 'talk' to this dongle. If this driver is not installed the software will not 'see' the dongle and will behave as if it is not connected so you will get a "Setup-Error".
Sometimes a problem might occur if the dongle is connected to the system and the program is immediately launched. Please allow the driver time to load!
Please install the driver before connecting the USB dongle.
Parallel port dongles - please see later.
This driver needs installing once per machine and can only be installed with 'administrator' rights. (Most machines not on a business network are OK otherwise contact your network 'manager'). Once installed the driver does not require special user rights.
A short cut is installed within the SuperView program group labelled "Sentinel Driver Installation". This can be used to install the driver or update an existing driver.
(for SuperView25 the program group is called SuperView25 Folder and is accessible from Start->All Programs in Windows 7 and XP or the All Apps view in Windows 8)
NB some installs include a short cut for the "parallel port" driver - using this is not usually required however some system way need it even if the machine has no parallel port!
The installation includes a suitable driver for the dongle (see above for details) . However if you change/upgrade your hardware or software (especially OS) you may need a later driver.
Similarly if you are supplied with a new dongle a currently installed driver may need updating. Please see System Requirements - dongle for further information.
This version of Windows 10 requires a different setup for the dongle driver than previous versions of Windows and a suitable version of SuperView25. Please contact us for details if your SuperView setup is pre 2018.
The dongle is an important part of the license to use M'n'G designs products. Put simply it is the physical part of the license and should be looked after accordingly. A lost dongle is a lost License!
For a number of years we have supplied USB dongles but older versions of SuperView were supplied with a parallel port (aka printer port) version.
We recommend you 'trade-in' any parallel dongles for a new USB dongle.
Many new machines do not have a suitable parallel port (USB to printer port convertors are NOT suitable).
Parallel port dongles support has been phased out.
e.g Parallel Port Rainbow Sentinel Scribe dongle support has been removed from SuperView25
From version 5,2,0,18 the Sentinel Driver Installation short cut does not install the parallel port driver - please contact us for guidance.
Please contact us directly, preferably by phone, if you believe your dongle to be broken - do not discard it!
The dongle has no user accessible memory and so can not be used to transfer any data from a machine. The dongle manufacturers Gemalto - Safenet Inc are a large multinational company - for more information visit their website
